This case study is based on primary research built on the interview with the General Manager Mr. Roshidi Mat Saad, Group Human Resources for TH Heavy Engineering Bhd (THHE). Secondary data was searched for articles, reports, journals and publications. THHE was listed in January 2005 on Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, and has been actively involved in the oil and gas industry since its formation in year 2002. The company is involved in fabrication and steel fabrication and heavy engineering industry in fabrication of offshore steel structures and supporting other related offshore oil and gas engineering services in Malaysia. The group subsidiary THHE Fabricators Sdn Bhd (THF), THF is PETRONAS licensed major fabricators in Malaysia. THF business is an oligopolistic market in Malaysia and hypercompetitive among the industries in South East Asian countries. The company’s primary activities are fabrication of offshore steel structures and ship building and repair business. The PETRONAS, Shell, Repsol and other major oil operators being the owner, the company requires to develop its competitive and strategic market against the Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MMHE), Sapura Energy Berhad (SapuraEnergy) and Muhibbah Engineering Bhd (Muhibbah). This case study was to comprehensively explore the manpower management against the growth, progress and achievement of THHE, and analyzed the expected growth of xi employment rate of the company using the general business tools. The outcomes of the analysis, alternatives will be derived and recommendations will be proposed to sustain the business growth of the company |
