Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library |
This study investigates the influence of competency-based human resource practices on employee performance and effectiveness within Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) in Malaysia. Employing a quantitative research design, data was collected from 115 participants through an online survey that comprised specifically designed opinion-based questions. The study focused on three key areas: competency-based recruitment and selection, training and development, and performance management. The findings, examined through Pearson correlation and regression analyses, revealed moderate positive relationships between these HR practices and employee performance and effectiveness, with varying degrees of impact observed. These findings underscore the strategic significance of competency-based HR practices in enhancing employee outcomes. However, it should be noted that these practices do not account for all variances in employee performance, suggesting the presence of additional unexplored factors. Recommendations for future research include expanding the scope of the study and conducting longitudinal studies to further investigate the intricacies of competency-based HR practices. This study contributes to the existing literature on strategic HR management and offers practical insights for HR practitioners within GLCs and similar organizations. |
