Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library
This study investigates the impact of formal educational qualifications on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) among Malaysian employees working in the restaurant industry in Singapore. Adopting a mixed-methods research design, the study combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to explore how various levels of educational attainment influence employees' discretionary behaviours that enhance organizational functioning. The quantitative component employs structured surveys distributed to a stratified random sample of full-time employees, measuring their educational qualifications and corresponding OCB levels. Statistical analyses, including multiple regression, will assess the relationship between these variables while controlling for potential confounding factors. Complementing the quantitative data, in-depth qualitative interviews will provide insights into employees' perceptions regarding how their educational backgrounds shape their engagement in OCB. Key mediators, such as job satisfaction, perceived organizational support, and work motivation, will be examined to elucidate the pathways through which education influences OCB. This research aims to contribute to the understanding of how formal education affects workplace behaviour in culturally diverse settings, particularly in the context of Malaysia's workforce in Singapore's restaurant sector. The findings will have implications for organizational practices, educational policy, and future research on the interplay between education and employee behaviour, highlighting the importance of fostering supportive environments that encourage OCB among employees with varying educational qualification.
