Communication plays an important role in shaping perceptions of diversity within both corporate organizations and communities. Effective and inclusive communication can lead to a positive, harmonious and equitable environment of diverse individuals, which consist of various cultural background, language, age and gender. Webster’s dictionary defines communication as the process of information exchange through a common system of symbols, signs, or behaviour. In diverse settings, where varied and different communication systems are used has underlines the importance of effective communication practices in ensuring the proper delivery of information. Focusing on the area of intercultural communication which based on Communication Accommodation Theory and Social Identity Theories helps to understand the role of communication in enhancing workplace diversity. This study seeks to identify communication barriers in diverse work settings, assess interpersonal communication skills, and examine communication tools that facilitate effective workplace diversity. Using SPSS software to analyse data from an online questionnaire survey of 250 employees in Malaysia's formal sector, the study evaluates the impact these communication factors on workplace diversity. From this study, it was found that interpersonal communication skills and communication tools have a positive and strong relationship with workplace diversity. From these findings, the study expected to offer theoretical insights for future research and practical strategies for businesses to enhance effective workplace diversity in Malaysia.
