This study examines the impact of Malaysia's Zero Carbon Emission (Decarbonisation) Plan by 2050 on employee retention within the oil and gas sector. The research focuses on three key factors which is organizational commitment, rewards and compensation, and employee adaptability to new skills and exploring how these elements influence retention during the industry's transition to renewable energy. A quantitative method was applied, with data collected from 156 employees and analyzed using Cronbach’s Alpha and factor analysis to ensure reliability and validity. The findings reveal a strong positive relationship between organizational commitment and retention, emphasizing the importance of clear communication of decarbonization goals. Competitive compensation also plays a significant role, particularly in uncertain periods. Employee adaptability to new skills was critical for retention, highlighting the necessity of ongoing training. The study provides valuable insights for policymakers and industry leaders, with recommendations for further research on the long-term impacts of decarbonization. |
