Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library
This paper examines the relationship between workforce management practices, workload, adequate staffing, and flexible scheduling on job performance among healthcare professionals in Klang Valley public hospitals. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design to examine the impact of these factors on doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff. Data was gathered using structured questionnaires to assess how these elements influence job performance outcomes. The findings indicate that balancing staffing sufficiency and workload can reduce work stress, enhance job satisfaction, and improve performance efficiency, highlighting the critical role of effective workforce management. This study fills a significant gap in the workforce management literature by focusing on the Malaysian public healthcare system, where previous research is limited. It provides valuable insights on managing healthcare resources, particularly in high-demand areas like Klang Valley. Practical recommendations are offered for healthcare policymakers and hospital managers, including the importance of optimizing resource utilization, introducing flexible staff deployment systems, and improving employee well-being support. These strategies are shown to improve job performance and patient outcomes. The findings are especially relevant given the ongoing healthcare reforms aimed at delivering cost-effective, quality care in Malaysia's public hospitals.
