Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library
This study investigates the effectiveness of traditional and digital media channels in raising public awareness about healthcare aid in Malaysia. Although numerous health communication efforts exist, significant gaps remain in understanding the most effective channels for disseminating information on healthcare aid programs. This research focuses on identifying impactful media channels and assessing content quality while addressing communication barriers. Data were collected from 384 respondents across Malaysia using a structured questionnaire and analysed through descriptive and inferential statistics via SPSS. The results reveal that traditional media, particularly television, is more effective in promoting healthcare aid awareness than digital channels, despite the broader reach of platforms like social media. Barriers such as limited digital literacy and internet access reduce the efficacy of digital media. The study concludes that traditional media is critical for reaching less digitally inclined populations, while digital media plays a supportive role. Content quality, including clarity and accuracy, significantly influences public engagement across all media types. A multi-channel approach integrating both traditional and digital media is recommended to bridge awareness gaps and optimize healthcare communication strategies. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, healthcare providers, and media strategists in designing more effective public health communication strategies, ultimately improving health outcomes in Malaysia.
