Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library |
Critical thinking is increasingly recognized as essential in higher education and the workplace, especially in a rapidly changing information modern era. Employers now prioritize soft skills like communication, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving over traditional academic knowledge. This shift is urging educators to rethink teaching strategies to better equip students for both academic and professional success. Despite the acknowledged importance of critical thinking, there's a lack of research on how skills acquired in educational settings translate to the job market specifically through Project Based Learning. This research investigates how PBL can cultivate critical thinking abilities among Malaysian university students through qualitative interviews with three experienced educators. The discussions revealed insights into their educational backgrounds and perspectives on PBL’s advantages and challenges. The findings indicate that PBL significantly fosters critical thinking skills, highlighting the need for tailored professional development for educators to effectively implement this approach. The study suggests that understanding the critical thinking skills valued in today’s job market can help optimize PBL to better align with both student needs and employer expectations. |
