Abstract : UNIRAZAK Library |
This research assessed the preparedness levels for disaster risks at Labuan SESB Power Station, focusing on key factors such as disaster management protocols, employee training, resource availability, and coordination with external agencies. A cross-sectional quantitative survey was conducted with 100 respondents, representing various departments across the power station. The methodology involved structured questionnaires, followed by data analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analysis included reliability testing, descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The results indicated a significant relationship between disaster preparedness and the identified factors. Resource availability emerged as the strongest predictor of preparedness, with a mean score of 3.77 (SD = 0.58) and a p-value of less than 0.001 in the regression model, demonstrating its critical importance in emergency response. Employee training and coordination with external agencies were also positively correlated with preparedness, though to a lesser extent. The overall disaster preparedness level had a mean score of 3.63 (SD = 0.65) on a 5-point scale, indicating moderate readiness. Improving resource management, particularly in emergency equipment and communication tools, could substantially enhance the station’s ability to respond effectively to disasters. The study acknowledged limitations, including the small sample size and the focus on a single station. Future research should explore broader geographical areas and consider other influencing factors such as technological advancements and climate adaptation strategies. Recommendations were made to improve disaster preparedness through enhanced resource allocation, continuous training, and better coordination with external stakeholders. |
