This research investigated the factors that affect safety culture maturity in the Malaysian oil and gas service sector. The study focused on key aspects such as leadership commitment, resource allocation, organizational pressures, and communication effectiveness. By conducting a cross-sectional survey of 122 safety practitioners, the research examined how these factors relate to the development of a mature safety culture. The findings revealed that leadership commitment and effective communication are crucial for enhancing a strong safety culture. Specifically, the study found a significant negative relationship between resource allocation and safety culture maturity, indicating that organizations need to dedicate adequate resources to support safety programs. Interestingly, external pressures, such as client demands and regulatory requirements, were found to positively influence safety culture maturity. This suggests that these pressures can encourage organizations to improve their safety practices. This research offers practical insights for safety managers, industry leaders, and policymakers. It emphasizes the importance of developing strong leadership, establishing clear communication channels, and investing sufficient resources to enhance safety culture maturity. Additionally, addressing external pressures through well-structured safety management systems is essential for sustaining safety culture maturity. The study utilized SPSS software for reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and hypothesis testing, providing solid evidence for the relationships among the variables studied. It concludes by recommending strategies for improving safety culture maturity in the oil and gas industry and suggesting areas for future research to explore the complex interactions between leadership, communication, resources, and organizational pressures. |
