Job hopping seems to be a trend that is picking up among the Gen Z workforce in recent years. Due to their unique characteristics, they tend to be very different from other workforces such as the Gen X, Gen Y and Millennials. The trend of job hopping among the Gen Z workforce has caused a significant impact to organizations where companies are facing high turnover rates and financial detriments such as regular recruitments, training and separation costs. In fact, this phenomenon has affected other workforces which have to work together with the Gen Z employees. According to Cambridge Dictionary, job hopping is defined as a practice of changing jobs very often. This behaviour is apparently associated with a certain specific characteristic that is possessed by employees of a specific group (Gen Z in this research) where they believe that they have the need to move around from one job to another or one employment to another to develop themselves. This research aims to identify the motivational factors that drive this particular workforce to job hop frequently. A quantitative study was conducted with 30 working people who were born from the year 1995 to 2012 and who have either job hopped in the past and who are planning to hop jobs in the near future. The database was collected through a questionnaire survey consisting of 19 questions across three (3) independent variable and one (1) dependent variable to support the essence of the research. Past journals were used as references throughout the research. The research also attempts to provide sufficient details in helping organizations to implement constructive strategies to retain, attract and engage talents from this group of employees in order to shape a more productive and supportive workforce. This trend of job hopping by Gen Z workforce required an in-depth study to ascertain the elements that influence and motivate this job-hopping trend.
