This study examines the impact of multitasking on employee productivity and performance in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, where efficiency and adaptability are key. While multitasking, defined as managing multiple tasks simultaneously, is often seen as a way to enhance efficiency, its true effect on productivity and work quality remains uncertain. This research fills this gap by analyzing how multitasking influences the quantity and quality of work among FMCG employees. A survey of 123 employees was conducted, and statistical analyses using SPSS, including descriptive analysis, reliability testing, correlation, and regression modeling, revealed that structured multitasking improves productivity in routine tasks, while multitasking in cognitively or emotionally demanding tasks decreases work quality and increases errors, aligning with Cognitive Load Theory (Sweller, 1988). The findings offer practical insights for FMCG managers on balancing multitasking and focused work to optimize performance and contribute to a deeper understanding of multitasking in workplace productivity. Future research could explore long-term effects and industry-specific differences. |
