| This study examines the influence of specific event management competencies on project success,
focusing on Hong Leong MSIG Takaful. It addresses a gap in research by exploring essential
competencies like project management, communication, logistics, and financial management. Its
primary goal is to asses how these competencies impact event management outcomes. Drawing
on theories such as McClelland’s Competency Theory, Gantt’s Project Management Theory, and
Human Capital Theory, it highlights the importance of skills and knowledge in achieving
successful job performance. McClelland emphasizes the identification and development of
competencies for organizational success, while Gantt underscores detailed planning, and Human
Capital Theory stresses the value of education and training. A quantitative approach was used,
gathering survey data from employees involved in event management. Purposive sampling
ensured that participants had relevant experience. The study analyzed how competencies influence
event success metrics like meeting deadlines and achieving goals. Statistical techniques, such as
correlation and regression analysis, showed significant positive relationships between
competencies like project management and communication with event success. The results
indicated that 69.3% of the variance in event success could be explained by these competencies,
emphasizing their importance in driving successful outcomes. Strong correlations were found
between project management skills and event success, along with communication and logistical
expertise. Reliability checks using Cronbach’s alpha confirmed strong internal consistency. The
study suggests that developing competency-based training programs can improve skills in project
management, communication, and logistics. It concludes by recommending further research into
additional competencies that could enhance event success, contributing valuable insights for both
academia and practical event management applications. |
